I am grateful for the broad participation Sunday as hundreds of people attending Wesley filled out the “Preliminary Survey.” This is one part of the preparation for our upcoming consultation to be led by Doug Anderson and Bob Farr in October. I will share the results of this survey as soon as they are tabulated.

The next phase of preparation is a workshop next week, Tuesday, August 24 at 6:30 pm. Bob Farr will be present to lead us through some information that has proven extremely helpful to other congregations. All are welcome to attend this workshop, and I hope that every small group leader, Sunday school teacher, mission leader, elected council and committee members will make this a high priority. If the recent survey peaked you interest, please attend this workshop.

I am looking forward to this process called the Healthy Church Initiative (HCI). It has been designed to assist United Methodist Churches in Missouri to become ever more fruitful in making new disciples of Jesus Christ. Wesley United Methodist Church will be the largest (and perhaps one of the healthiest) churches to participate in this process. I have been teaching and training pastors for the last two years around Missouri whose churches have also been part of this HCI.
